Hello,

Just adding some info to the list, Kenwood now offers another model, the TH-D72 that offers APRS, Messaging, and Beaconing.
Also the Kenwood TM-D710 which offers the same features as well as SKY Command.

Yeasus FTM-350 also has the same features.

Of course picking up an Open Tracker from Argent Data Systems for as low as 40 bucks you can easily add an interface cable and a GPS receiver and your on the air with any 5 watt radio, but of course once you are out side of the digipeater area more wattage is needed.

Digipeating? Argent Data Systems offer the brand new Open Tracker 3 which supports KISS mode, digipeater, and Weather stations. This OTM3 runs around 95 dollars.

You can also use a Tiny Tracker 4 from Byonics which also can be used to track, digipeat, interface a weather station, KISS mode, Encode 300 BAUD on the HF band, and add the optional screen and connector you can input a PS2 keyboard and send and receive text messages. This tracker runs about 75.00 dollars.

This can also be purchased in a kit form and you can build this kid your self, or if not interested in building it you can buy them build and tested.
