About the Chatham-Kent Amateur Radio Club
Membership in the CKARC is open to anyone who has an interest in amateur radio. Activities include providing communications to community events, weekly nets, CANWARN weather observation, and monthly meetings - where various aspects of amateur radio will be discussed and demonstrated.
The annual ARRL Field Day event allows the club to deploy our communication trailer and operate for 24 hours on emergency power. There are also Simulated Emergency Tests during the year. Members and guests are encouraged to participate.
Our Weekly Net
The Chatham-Kent Amateur Radio Club has one of the longest-running nets in Southern Ontario. Every Wednesday night at 21:00 local, join us on the VE3KCR repeater (147.120+) for on-the-air fellowship. This net is often international, thanks to our repeater's wide footprint. Keep up to date with our regular reading of the Ontario Bulletin Service. Buy, sell or trade your ham gear during the new swap shop portion of the net. Don't forget to pick up your mic and give us a call. Use a 100 Hz PL to ensure the closest remote site hears you.
Meetings
Club meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month (except July and August), starting at 19:00 local. Come to the Scout Shack, off Lansdown Drive, behind Victoria Park Public School.
